VisionTrips for Kids Bay Area envisions a world where all children reach their highest potential. We believe that all kids, regardless of their gender, race or socio-economic status deserve a life where they can self-actualize and be the best they can be - physically, emotionally, and intellectually.

Our History
Marilyn Price, our Trips for Kids Bay Area founder, still remembers the first time she rode a bike.
"My father let go of my seat, and there I was on my own," she said. Years later, Marilyn realized the power of biking to change lives. During a 1986 mountain biking trip on Mount Tamalpais, Marilyn reached a view point where she could see all of San Francisco. Looking out at the city, she thought of the children she met while volunteering at a soup kitchen in San Rafael. And it hit her: She wanted to give them the same experience. "There's nothing like biking up a mountain and looking behind you to see all you've accomplished," she said. After that experience, Marilyn founded Trips for Kids Bay Area out of her home in Mill Valley. What began slowly as a few trips on the weekends with eleven bikes loaded on her Volvo station wagon has grown into a vast network with over 50 chapters located throughout North America. |
Present Day
Since those early days, we have introduced over 40,000 bay area youth to the joys of mountain biking at our local, state and national park trails. A registered national 501c3 nonprofit, Trips for Kids Bay Area currently offers Trail Rides, Mobile Bike Workshops, and Earn-A-Bike youth development programs, as well as operates the Re-Cyclery Bike Shop that refurbishes and sells donated bikes, parts and accessories at bargain prices to our local community.
