Trail Rides

Why Ride?

Trips for Kids Bay Area started in 1988 with this flagship program! Trail Rides take groups of kids on mountain bike adventures (many for the first time) in gorgeous local, state, and national parks. Participants learn bike skills, gain self-confidence, engage in physical exercise, and explore and connect with nature in beautiful open spaces throughout the Bay Area.

We partner with over 40 community-based agencies and schools in the Bay Area. Many of these agencies serve kids from historically underserved communities and rely heavily on Trips for Kids Bay Area for high-quality, engaging, and fun outdoor experiences.

With highly skilled Ride Leaders and a fleet of 80 bikes, we provide everything needed for kids to experience the joy of exploring the world from the seat of a mountain bike. Trips for Kids Bay Area offers two programs that include single day, intro-to-mountain biking Discovery Rides as well as Adventure Bike Clubs - a series of rides where students build upon their experience and see improvement in skill, endurance, and enjoyment over the course of weeks or months. Each program can be tailored to meet the needs and experience of the group.

Trail Ride Programs that we offer:

Discovery Trail Ride:

Discover the joy of mountain biking as we practice fundamental skills, overcome challenges, and explore nature in some of the Bay Area’s most beautiful locations!

Adventure Bike Club:
Single day of riding not enough? Why not ride with us again and again! Our Adventure Bike Club program is designed to pick up where the Discovery Trail Ride left off by offering the opportunity for students to see marked improvement in skill, endurance and enjoyment over the course of weeks or months. It is designed to compliment most after-school programs.

Learn it, Fix it, Shred it:
Specifically designed in partnership with the Girl Scouts, this exciting day-long adventure combines Trips for Kids Bay Area’s Earn-a-Bike and Trail Rides programs to teach basic bike maintenance and fundamental mountain bike skills while earning a badge or patch for their participation.

We lead Trail Rides throughout the Bay Area. Check it out!
